International Symposium on Arab Steel Industry: opportunities and Prospects
With the increasing growth of the steel production capacities in the Arab countries, the Arab region will be one of the major regions in steel production at the world level. Acceleration of the future growth of this industry will be strengthened by the availability of new investment opportunities of the raw materials available in several Arab countries, at the top of which comes the iron ore, and also by directing a number of the new investments towards setting up direct reduction projects depending on gas in addition to the increasing demand for the steel products in several major steel consuming sectors like construction sector, pipes sector, and other major steel using sectors.

Where is the Arab steel industry going? What is the reflection of acceleration in setting up new projects depending on local sources for the development of this industry and its future projects? To what extent the improved oil and gas prices may be considered a driving element for setting up new steel projects and to stir the demand for steel in the local markets? What is the position of the Arab steel industry in the world export markets?

This is what will be discussed in the International Symposium on Growth Trends in Arab Steel Industry to be organised by the Arab Iron and Steel Union in the period 6 – 8 March 2006 which will be held in the most investment-attractive Arab regions in this industry, the Arabian Gulf region, definitely in the United Arab Emirates.
