Long product mill at Rajhi Steel (Saudi Arabia) to be launched in spring 2012

Saudi Arabia’s Rajhi Steel revised its programme for expansion of steelmaking and rolling capacities. Thus, production capacity of a steelmaking complex in Jeddah will be ramped up from 850,000 tpy to 1 mtpy by end-2012, while a 1 mtpy rebar mill will be put into operation in May. The equipment will be supplied by Danieli (Italy).
The plant in Jeddah operates a long product mill (325,000 tpy). It produces about 70,000 t of billet and 27,000 t of longs on average per month. Longs shipments from the plant in Riyadh (675,000 t) reach 56,000 tpm.
Besides, Rajhi Steel also has a 180,000 tpy plant in Riyadh, which produces pipes and flat steel.
