 Azovstal (Ukraine) lowers slab exports

 Ukraine’s Azovstal plans to reduce slab shipments in December due to weak demand and unfavourable price situation in foreign markets. According to preliminary data, about 225,000-235,000 t of semis may be exported this month, by 17-22% down m-o-m. Slabs are mainly supplied to the EU and Asia.
The plant generally intends to make 435,000 t of steel products in December (10% down).
In the first eleven months of the year, Azovstal melted some 5.2 mt of liquid steel, practically unchanged from the same period last year. Steel product output (finished steel and merchant semis) grew by 1%, to 4.9 mt. In particular, slab shipments amounted to some 2.8 mt (3% down y-o-y).
