 BILDCO (UAE) eying plant project in Saudi Arabia

 UAE's Abu Dhabi National Company for Building Materials (BILDCO) has postponed construction of a longs rolling plant (400,000 tpy) in Mussafah industrial area, Abu Dhabi, again. A company representative reports, the producer considers establishing a joint venture with a partner from Saudi Arabia to implement the project. Besides, the Board of directors will choose a location for the new plant either in the UAE, as planned earlier, or in Saudi Arabia.
Thus, new time frame for the investment programme is yet to be set. Its second and third stages involve installation of a wire rod mill (350,000 tpy) and construction of a steelmaking complex (1 mtpy) respectively.
As reported earlier, the rebar mill project was announced back in 2007, but was postponed multiple times due to financial problems.
