 Al Watania Steel (Qatar) to launch long product mill in July

 Qatar’s Al Watania Steel is preparing to launch a long product mill with a capacity of 360,000 t. The equipment setup, which is being carried out now, will be completed by July, a company representative says.
The producer plans to ramp up the mill to full capacity in a year after the start of commercial production. The company plans to source most of semis from the only local producer Qatar Steel Co. Merchant bars, wire rod and coiled rebar will be sold domestically, though export shipments are possible in the future.
Al Watania Steel also has a project for rolling mill installation in Saudi Arabia, but the investment programme details are not available.
