 New coke plant to produce 250 thousands tons in Shahrud

 MNA - A metallurgy coke processing and supply plant capable of producing 250,000 tons of the commodity per year will be set up in Shahrud.
A number of provincial officials attended the opening ceremony of the construction work of the huge plant. The complex encompassing a 50-hectare area will be built 12 kilometers southwest of this northern city.
Construction of the plant has been made possible through the sale of stocks worth 175 billion rials to the public as well as investments by domestic banks, the Persian edition of IRNA reported on Tuesday.
According to experts in the field, turning concentrates into coke increases the earned value added to as high as 2.5-3 fold. Some 350,000 tons of coal concentrates is produced each year in Shahrud.
Metallurgy coke produced from coal is vastly used in steel industries, iron smelting and other metals industries.
