 Operational testing of Hamriyah Steel plant started

 ArabSteel – Last Monday, the first phase of operational tests in Hamriyah Steel started, and it's expected to last for 3 weeks during which 600 t of rebar shall be produced. This news came in a release issued by Metalloinvest, the Russian company holding 80% of the Hamriyah shares.
The plant is scheduled, according to the plan, to reach maximum operational capacity at the end of 2010, achieving one million metric tons of rebar.
Hamriyah Steel is one of the largest rebar rollers in Hamriyah Free Zone, Sharjah, UAE.
Metalloinvest aims through this plant, as a local producer, to enter the UAE market without any constraints, in addition to all GCC markets that have been witnessing huge demand for rebar.
Metalloinvest, the parent company that is No.5 among the biggest Russian steelmakers, is expected be the primary supplier of billets to the new plant in Hamriyah.
