Rebar prices exceeds $600 in Muscat's market

ArabSteel – The consumer rebar prices in Muscat increased more than 5.5% at the end of January. This increase included locally-produced rebar as well as rebar imported from Turkey, UAE and Qatar for 8-32 mm sizes. This rise came in the quotes list of 30 January issued by the Department of Consumer Protection in the Ministry of Trade & Industry on February 5th which «Arab Steel» got a copy of.
Prices of Sharq Sohar Co. were in the range of OR 230-232 per ton ($598-604), compared to OR 218-220 in January 16th, rising by 5.5%. Hadid Majan prices have seen a remarkable rise reaching OR 227 per ton as compared to OR 215 for the past period, thus rising by 5.6%.
Turkish steel have also seen a rise to reach OR 232 per ton for all sizes, whereas the price was at OR 218 for 12-32 mm and OR 220 for 8-10 mm per ton.
Qatari steel prices ranged from OR 230 for 12-32 mm to OR 232 for 8-10 mm per ton, compared to OR 220 for all the previously mentioned sizes during the past period.
Muscat market witnessed a coming back of UAE steel during H1 with a OR 227 price per ton.
