Arab imports of Turkish rebar amount to 1.7mt during the first 4 months of 2010

ArabSteel - Imports of Turkish rebar to 6 Arab countries amounted to 1.7mt during the first 4 months of this year. UAE is in the leading position with 350,000t accounting for nearly 20% of the overall imports, followed by Egypt by 16% and Libya with 101,000t accounting for 6%.
Meanwhile, the imports volume during April 2010 declined by 14% with an overall imports figure of 452,000t versus 572,000t for March. Most of the decline is in UAE, Egypt and Iraq imports, while Libya and Yemen increased their imports in April. On the other hand, imports from Turkey to Arab countries of billets, wires and sections during April saw a rise to 569,000t compared to 477,000t during March 2010, i.e. increasing by 19% m-o-m and by 88% when compared to April, 2009.
