Half a million ton of Arab steel imports from Turkey during August
Last Update: 19/09/2010 08:27:51 ArabSteel – The volume of Arab steel imports from Turkey during the month of August 2010 neared half a million ton, most of which were rebar with 302,000t, whereas billet imports accounted for 190,000t, according to the data provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB). The Arab imports of Turkish rebar during August accounted for 60% of the overall Turkish exports to the top 10 importing countries, while Turkish billet exports to Arab countries accounted for 77%. Saudi Arabia came first of the top ten Turkish rebar export destinations at 94,483t, and UAE came second with 103,846t of billets imported in the same period. In this regard, the Turkish rebar exports volume during the first 8 months of this year amounted to 4.43 million tons, thus declining by 36.81% when compared to the same period of 2009. The billet exports, on the other hand, rose by 77% compared to the same period of 2009 amounting to 2.25 million tons. Arab countries are the main destination of Turkish steel, as UAE, KSA, Iraq and Yemen are of the top ten importing countries from Turkey.
