Eng. Ziad Kutayni was appointed to hold the post of the Director of Damascus  Regional Office, to succeed Mr. Younes Haidar, the former Director.
Mr. Kutayni had previously been in many posts, such as the Director General of Hadeed Hamah Company, Director General of the General Organization for Engineering Industries (Handasiyah), and Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Auto Manufacturing Co. (Siamco); the first car manufacturer in Syria.
Mr. Kutayni holds a Master's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, iron and steel major, from the Universities of the former Soviet Union, Donetsk Polytechnic Institute 1977,  on a scholarship to the advantage of the Ministry of Industry in the Syrian Arab Republic.
Eng. Ziad Kutayni started off his career in 1977 as a Shift Supervisor in the scrap melt-shop of Hadeed Hamah plant affiliated to the General Company for Iron and Steel Products in Hamah, Syria, and continued on to become manager of the steel bar rolling mill at the same company between 1981 and 1991. Afterwards, he was promoted to become the Assistant Manager of the company 1991-1996, when he assumed the post of the Director General until the year 2000 when he was appointed as General Manager of the General Organization for Engineering Industries (Handasiyah) in Damascus. Mr. Kutayni held that post along with his capacity as Vice Chairman of the Arab Iron & Steel Union (AISU) till 2008. In 2006, he became the Chairman of the Board of the Syrian-Iranian Auto Manufacturing Co. (Siamco) up until 2009.
