ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY AND MODERN EQUIPMENTS TO PRODUCE STEEL BARS AND INDUSTRIAL PROFILES
Prices for Turkish HDG stable so far

Prices for Turkish HDG stable so far
Buying activity is minimal in the Turkish HDG market. Local trading companies, whose stocks are depleted, purchase material only for current needs now seeing poor demand from final customers. Nevertheless, local HDG producers are trying to maintain prices at last-month levels referring to relatively stable feedstock quotations, though discounts are granted while doing deals. However, most market players believe as flats prices are expected to drop, those for HDG will slide down too. At the same time, an expected improvement of demand from end users in September may help HDG makers to stay up.
In particular, Erdemir and Tezcan Galvaniz have cut the bottom end of the price range for 0.5 mm galvanized coils with 100 g/sq m zinc coating. As a result, their material is now available at $940-950/t FOB/FOB and $930-940/t EXW, respectively. Domestic prices are given exclusive of 18% VAT. MMK-Atakas, in turn, continues to quote the similar material at $960/t EXW, by $10-30/t higher than other suppliers do, citing limited supply. However, Turkish steelmakers are ready to discount another $15/t while making contracts with local customers.
Market players report, mainly African buyers (from Egypt and Sudan) import Turkish products, while the Middle Eastern traders (Lebanese, Syrian and Iraqi ones) are ready to start signing contracts only if more considerable reductions are made. A number of deals with Egyptian customers for 1 mm galvanized coils with 100 g/sq m zinc coating were reportedly made at $880/t FOB ($890/t C&F).
