 Syria’s Steelco to launch long product mill in November

 Syria’s Steelco plans to start hot trials at its new long product mill (300,000 tpy) by early November. Commercial production is scheduled for Q1 2012, while the full capacity is to be reached within three months, the company’s source says.
The long product mill, supplied by Italy's subsidiary of SMS Meer S.P.A., is designed to produce 8-40 mm rebar, bars and light longs. The company plans to source square billet from Ukraine, Turkey and Russia.
Steelco intends to export 70% of finished products to Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq, while 30% will be supplied domestically.
