Yemeni Steel Industry Starts its March with three Companies

ArabSteel - The Republic of Yemen had witnessed at the end of 2005 the production of the first quantity of reinforcing steel after putting the mill of the Arab Yemeni Iron and Steel Company into the actual operation stage in October. The company has also got the ISO Certificate 9001 in July 2006.
The company was established in Aden’s Free Zone at the end of 2004 with a production of 40 thousand tons to be doubled within one year. The company’s production at its first stage covers 10% of the requirements of the Yemeni market. It is established on an area of 100 thousand square meters. In the mill 150 workers will be employed.
The cost of the project amounted to about 35 million US dollars. In the educational industrial estate belonging to Aden’s Free Zone the Preparation to start with construction of the necessary buildings for the mill of the Yemeni-Chinese Iron and Steel Company, Ltd have started. Its production capacity will be 150 thousand tons per year. It is expected that this company will start its production in 2007.
This project will be established on an area of 100 thousand square meters.
In (salb) Rayyan estate (50 Km) to the north of Al-Mukallah City in the Hadramout Governorate Hadramout Iron and Steel mill will be established with an initial production capacity of 120 thousand tons to be increased up to 300 thousand tons when all the forthcoming stages of the project have been completed.
The mill will produce reinforcing steel with various diameters in addition to the steel used in the steel structures. Its production will cover the requirements of Hadramout Governorate and the neighbouring governorates.
The cost of the project is 26 million US dollars and it will employ 300 workers of the local workers. It will be established on an area of 180 thousand square meters.
