Hadeed’s production counts for 65% of the total production capacity in the Kingdom

ArabSteel - The volume of the sales of Saudi Iron and Steel Company «HADEED» amounted to 3898211 tons in 2006 compared to 3672574 tons in 2005, i.e., up by 6.1%.
Hadeed company is the largest steel producer in the Kingdom. In the Kingdom there are now five mills with a production capacity of up to 8.430.000 tons of long and flat products. This is what was confirmed by Mr. Mohammad Saleh Al-Jabr, Deputy President of SABIC Metals Group to the Arab Steel magazine. He said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the GCC’s countries are witnessing an industrial and construction development which requires efforts to develop the iron and steel industry in the region. He also said that SABEC’s steel products produced in the complex of the Iron and Steel Company «HADEED» alone count for 65% (with a total production capacity of 5.500.000 tons/year) and 90% thereof are marketed in the Kingdom.
The Kingdom, according to Mr. Al-Jabr, will witness an increase of the iron and steel mills (2 mills) with a production capacity of 1.250.000 tons/year within the next few years in order to keep abreast with the demand for the iron and steel products. « We expect with the rising crude oil prices worldwide continuation of growth of the construction movement which depends on the iron and steel products», he said. Mr. Al-Jabr assured that the Arab Iron and Steel Union plays a significant role to get upgrading of those information. The largest evidence thereof is holding the Arab Steel Summit 2007 which, God Will, will be held in Muscat in Sultanate of Oman in the period 12-14 March 2007 , which will discuss more than 30 working papers most of which deal with the production capacities in the market and diversification of the production base as to cover the need of the region of the iron and steel products for construction works and other manufacturing industries, of which, for instance, the steel flat products for the car industry in the Arab region.
Mr. Al-Jabr expressed the hope that the Arab steel summit will come out with results and recommendations reflecting the prosperity and growth of the iron and steel industry in the region.
